EL NIDO WITH MY CHICAS

written by Sandy Riccio October 21, 2016

Figuring out where you’ll wander next?

Well, first thing’s first, who will you be traveling with?

NEWSFLASH: If you haven’t taken time off with your best friends, you are definitely missing out! Ditch your man and the city life and go on an adventure with your ladies!

We went to my hometown, Palawan and stayed at our hotel ; Deep Forest Garden.  It’s a small forest themed hotel  with a restaurant that serves all kinds of cuisines perfect for trying new things in new getaway s and it’s only 5 minutes away from the town.

What was the purpose of this trip? To see El Nido!  I wanted to show my friends the beauty of Palawan and El Nido was the way to go. It is a 4 hour drive from Deep Forest in Puerto Princesa City.

We started traveling at the crack of dawn and arrived on El Nido at 8 in the morning just in time for their daily tours. However… there was one thing we didn’t do which was to check the weather forecast!!! That’s a big no-no when traveling! do yourselves a favor and learn from my mistake and always check the weather.

The trip was so random and i had only planned to visit my dad when my friends followed and when we got to El Nido, our tour was cancelled due to “Habagat Season” which is characterized by humid weather, heavy rainfall and strong winds coming from the west. Luckily for us El Nido had a lot to offer other than their island hoping tours.

We went to Nacpan beach,  (just 15 minutes away from El Nido proper ) instead and kept our optimism with us! Fortunately, the sun was out, and so were we. We weren’t gonna let Habagat season get in our way or spoil out trip!

The road to Nacpan beach isn’t fully developed yet and after a few kilometers of paved roads you will eventually have to drive on the good old dirt road, but that means you’re closer to the beach!

After a bumpy ride we finally arrived at the beach where we had to sign in and register ourselves as visitors. there’s an environmental fee of 200 PHP but if you’re a local like me you will only pay 100 PHP.

My favorite thing about Nacpan is the long stretch of white sandy beach and lots of shady spots where you can just put your mandala on the sand and voila! time to get baked!

After a quick swim to cool off, we had some coconut juice/ buck juice that was picked for us by the helpers of Nacpan beach. we stayed under the sun the whole morning and when it was lunch time food was ready to get conquered! Beer, sand and music was the cherry on top of our day in the beach. The waves just had such relaxing effect on my friends and i and suddenly it hits me, I am home.

The ocean has always been a part of my life. Y parents have been taking me to the beach since before i could walk and that’s what I’m really thankful for, you know? the little things.

So there we were, staring beyond the horizon and breathing in the fresh air. the sun was almost setting and we heard that the sunset in El Nido is best spent at the beach shack.  We packed our stuff, headed back to the car and had a few hours to freshen up in our lovely hotel before watching the sunset.

Our first day in El Nido was quite short but nonetheless, amazing.

Hi, Sandy! Love your feed, it really portrays a true mermaid. Since I’ve been to Coron already, I’m thinking that El Nido must be my next destination. And that Nacpan Beach, perfect spot to chill out. My friend went there already and she said, it’s a paradise. So after reading this blog, it added to my imagination that yeah, it’s a must go there. Thanks for this and congratulations! Cheers
