As a travel/Lifestyle writer, one of your initial aims once you’ve stepped on this kind of platform/industry is work with airlines, hotels and what not Specifically, to experience different forms and variations of traveling.
It happened like this, I got a message saying they needed one more creative for Air Asia and when I said I’m in, they sent me the details and my jaw dropped! Air Asia will fly me…
To my hometown, Puerto Princesa City! At first I found it really funny, right? what rw the chances? they sent me the itinerary and all the activities we were going to do It’s where I usually go whenever I’m home.. so
If you’ve been here on my blog a few times, then you’d know by now that I was born and raised on this beautiful island, Palawan. And the fact that I get to work with a lot of creative people in my hometown.. let’s just say it was an exhilarating experience..
I got to meet these amazing people wherein we had the same eye in creating beautiful contents. I listened, and took in everything they were saying creatively.
We arrived at around 9 in the morning with a warm welcome by Joan from Microtel who immediately brought to the hotel to check in, have breakfast and to change for the beach.
First stop was Cowrie Island, just 25-30 minutes away from what we call “bayan/ city proper ” and 15 minutes boat roade then voila! we get to chill and mostly whatever we want until the sun goes down. So, first order of business, get some color.
We came in the island with an empty stomach and returned to our beautiful hotel atleast 2 tones darker since we were there in the middle of the day and it was really steaming hot. The owners were my long time friends too so I was happy that I got to chat with them.
On our second day, we went to the Puerto-Princesa subterranean River national park (underground River) which is located in the Saint Paul Mountain range on the western coast of the island and is protected by the government and of course, the locals.
Now, I’ve been here a few times. *5 to be exact! But every time I visit this renowned place, it gives me this totally different outlook in life. You see locals working together, having a system, following it, you see a different side of the Filipinos in nice quiet provinces, I think.
On the third day with Airasia, we went to Nagtabon beach.
Nagtabon is where my family and I spend our Christmas day here in Palawan with my family so it was really nice to go there with new friends to enjoy the sun with. We were supposed to stay in my friends hostel there but he ended up being in the states so we just got ourselves a cottage and played music until the sun set on us.
Since we were basking under the sun all day, what better way to have our last meal than at a dampa styled restaurant in skylight hotel wherein you can go in, choose whichever live seafood you want to be served to you and man! They did not disappoint! I ate for mostly around 2 hours just because of the yummy fat filled crabs! But the highlight of my dinner there was the cold beer they served us and the kinilaw!
On our 4th day, we had to go home to manila already and get back to regular programming, may it be with our work, or school our hearts were heavy when we left Microtel hotel to go to the pasalubong store then the airport. ~
til my next trip with @Airasia ~
