Contemplative day at the Manila Yacht Club

written by Sandy Riccio March 27, 2017
Contemplative day at the Manila Yacht Club

Abyssal thinking with a crepuscular light

Ciao babies! I know I haven’t written a personal blog post lately, (my deepest apology)  you see,  I’ve been very active with school, events and I recently partnered up with Smart Travel Asia so my writing time was focused on them for the whole month of March.

Firstly, if you haven’t read the Manila fun guide I wrote for #STA  you should stop reading this right now and head on over to www.SmartTravelAsia.com and there you’ll see the 20 Must do’s in Manila! (or you can just save the link and go back to reading this 🙂

I am beyond happy and a little overwhelmed about this article I wrote. You see, I did not expect my friends to share it on their social media platforms and put in good words for me. I’m telling you, you get support from the least person you would expect and it’s actually kind of refreshing to know that you may not be that close with someone but they are still routing for you, pushing you and supporting you. I’ve always had this whimsical dream of being a poet and inspiring people through my writings, but I always convinced myself that It’s just not for me or my insecurities would get in the way and I would think that I’d just be wasting other peoples time or my writings are just too weak for readers to indulge in. But I learned that if you don’t rush things and you put your heart and soul and make it into print, everyone who reads your work will feel you or in other words, understand you.

I spent 2 of my weekends at the Manila Yacht club and it made me realize something while I was staring vastly at the sea.

I was standing in the middle of the ocean astonished by what I’m seeing and right beside me is the City we all know and love. That’s when it hit me, I’ve been looking at myself as this Island girl in distress who always need saving when I am in a concrete jungle. Like I’m somewhat being punished for experiencing the nasty pollution and gruesome traffic Manila brings and I don’t know if it was the wine on my hand but I started realizing that I’m lucky.. because I’m starting to be both. The Island life will always be in my heart but I live in a City now,  how will I truly live if I don’t start appreciating the things a city life offers?

Stay tuned for  concrete blogs and OOTD’s for there is a blooming city girl inside me that wants to know you. In addition, Here are a few shots from the yacht club that I think are worth sharing with you. 🙂

And fret not, because in my heart i’ll be

Always Sandy. <3

Hi Ashley! Sadly, there are no available yachts for rent, only personal ones! it’s a beautiful place to have lunch to! 🙂 <3

Sandra Riccio

Ciao! I’m Sandy! I’m a half Swiss/Itialian/Filipina and I was raised in an island. Literally 16 years of my life consisted of beach trips during the weekend (and even on weekdays) with my family and friends, heading so far we couldn’t even see the city lights anymore.
